The HTC
Evo 4G was the first smartphone in the world to use 4G wireless
connectivity, and was released by Sprint Nextel in the US on the 4th of
June 2011.
Receiving great reviews
across the board thanks to a Scorpion microprocessor clocked at 1 GHz
and keeping true to their word HTC
are updating the handset to keep it in line with the current generation
of Android handsets.
So what’s the date? Well that’ll be June 6th (Monday), and every
single activated HTC Evo 4G handset should see the update at some point
during that date. On top of the Gingerbread update users will also
recieve SMS and Gmail fixes, along with a tweak to the phone’s power
management software.
Although Android Froyo currently reigns
supreme in the number of smartphones used by users, Gingerbread is
slowly sliding in to take the mantle, bringing with it increased
security, and features used by more modern phones currently such as the
Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation.
